Amy and Harry were my first ever paid shoot, after Amy saw on twitter that I’d just launched Laura Haley Photography. She wanted some natural, relaxed photographs of herself and her little boy, and so we booked her Mother and son shoot at Roundhay Park in Leeds, at her suggestion.
I’d not been to Roundhay Park before (other than to go to Tropical World) and so I was really surprised by how many different backdrops we had at our disposal. I think we would’ve done more if we hadn’t had a pram, and a light drizzle, to contend with on the day.
Amy had asked me if she could bring some props with her to personalise the shoot (which is always fine by me!) and so she brought some Harry Potter themed bits, and some football themed, as she runs a football blog. Harry was in a very cooperative mood, luckily, as young children can be difficult to work with if they don’t feel like posing, and with Amy’s help I managed some really great photos of Harry on his own.
The easiest way to take photographs of a child is to have their Mum/Dad/both stood right behind me talking to them, and Amy was happy to do this-making my job so much easier and the results the best possible.
I asked Amy for a testimonial after her shoot and here’s what she said:
‘Being able to choose the location for our pictures made them really special and the fact Laura was happy to incorporate our Potter themed props with such ease really added to the ‘magic!’ Harry and I will definitely be in touch for more photos in the future.
